Baja & Border News Translations: Lingerie Thief; Hospital Reaches Milestone

Man Arrested with Lingerie (Peninsular Digital, 9/14/12)

San Jose del Cabo, BC South - Raul Estrada was stopped with two black plastic bags full of bras, blouses and such items in the early hours on Thursday on the outskirts of the Josefino Candy Bar. He attempted to pedal quickly away with the obvious intention of evading the DST 258 police unit patrolling the southern colony of Guaymitas. The police, however, soon caught Raul, 34.

Once in custody of authorities, Raul failed to consistently explain the source of the lingerie and sports clothing, although he tried to convince officials first saying the clothing was owned by a friend who worked at the bar. He then changed his statement and explained that the bras and lingerie were part of his catalog of merchandise nightclub dancers wanted to buy.

In addition to creating more suspicion, Raul lied about his identity and none of the girls in the bar was expected to claim ownership of the intimate garments.

In all, Raúl had five bras, some panties, a blouse and three tights. He was secured and transferred to the headquarters jail to await arraignment. http://peninsulardigital.com/?p=87351

Hospital has Treated 15,000 Patients (Peninsular Digital, 9/14/12)

La Paz, BC South - Since the Juan María de Salvatierra Hospital opened, more than 15,000 patients has been treated in the emergency and operating room areas. This is seen as absolute justification to open a fourth clinic and hire three new doctors, said Carlos Arriola Isais, director of the clinic.

Now, the hospital has thirteen specialists, among them emergency medical specialists who serve more than 100 patients a day, assured the director.

From January to July, they attended to more than 12,000 people in urgent need, of which 67% were Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) beneficiaries.

"Services in the hospital have improved considerably, thanks to the support received for the recruitment of medical personnel and different areas are now being strengthened to raise the quality of care for beneficiaries," said Arriola Isais. http://peninsulardigital.com/?p=87411
