Neighbors Must Pay for Electricity (El Sudcaliforniano, 9/12/12 by Christian Zarazua)
Los Cabos, BC South - To the dissatisfaction of Caribe Bajo inhabitants, the power outage caused by the CFE in their area, the only solution is for them to make timely payments to the Federal Electricity Commission, said the municipal delegate, Martin Lagarda Ruiz.
Since the land where they live is undergoing standardization and service is provided on a community basis, general power outages CFE can occur.
In that regard, the municipal delegate, Martin Lagarda Ruiz, explained an agreement with the Federal Electricity Commission has been made so the inhabitants of seperate homes can have individual service with a commitment that electricity payments are made.
"The situation is that many settlements have not been standardized yet, so currently due to the delay, the CFE has limited their power. If places have made a 50 - 80 % payment, there is no problem, however there are others in which payment is very low and that is where the power cuts were made," said Lagarda Ruiz.
He also said, "The only solution that can be given to residents of Caribe Bajo is to organize with the rest of the inhabitants and ask them to make payments for service they have already received. They have to make a commitment. We work very hard as an escrow source so they pay, since we can not identify service use by where they live."
Finally, the CFE of Cabo San Lucas stressed that while working to standardize processes, it is important to analyze each home in detail because certain standards must be met since the safety of the families is relevant. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsudcaliforniano/notas/n2692044.htm
Tropical Storm Kristy (El Sudcaliforniano, 9/14/12 by Aracely Hernandez F.)
La Paz, BC South - The National System Civil Protection (Sinaproc), established an alert in Baja California Sur for tropical storm "Kristy" in the Pacific and also warned local authorities to monitor the event as it is considered a moderate hydrometeorological hazard. Yesterday it was 420 miles south of Cabo San Lucas and moving West-Northwest at 17 kilometers per hour. Kristy will leave rain in the area as it weakens over the weekend and does not represent a danger for the inhabitants of the State. It will only leave rain in three municipalities. Tropical storm "Kristy" is caused by a tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean and is located to the southwest off the coast of Jalisco causing strong to very strong rain storms and intervals of showers in Western Mexico and the South BC peninsula. Yesterday it caused heavy rains to the South of the area.
According to the forecast from the national weather service (SMN), it is predicted rainfall will be moderate to strong in most of the North and Gulf regions as well as in the Southern BC peninsula, as well as downtown and South of the North Pacific region, with rain sometimes in the North Pacific region.
The center of tropical storm "Kristy" is in the Pacific Ocean and at 4 p.m. yesterday, was located at 290 kilometers west-southwest of downtown Manzanillo, Colima and moving Northwest at 19 kilometers per hour, causing moderate to strong rain along the Middle peninsula.
The storm presented strong cloud detachments from Michoacán to Nayarit, favoring strong to intense rainfall potential at points in highland areas of these States and called for precautions to communities on the Pacific coast.
The phenomenon has sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour, with high waves in the system’s vicinity so maritime authorities have called to exercise caution.
According to the La Paz meteorological observatory, since yesterday "Kristy’s" storm clouds were near Cabo San Lucas and La Paz, so it is expected that moderate rainfall will result on Friday.
The MTF said the phenomenon will continue moving parallel to the peninsula, forecasting rain and gusty winds in the Los Cabos, La Paz and Comondú municipalities, so the population is asked to stay informed. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsudcaliforniano/notas/n2694985.htm
