Cuban Migrants Detained (El Sol de Tijuana, 10/27/12 by Carlos Salazar)
Tuxtla, Chico, Chiapas - Seven Cuban migrants who traveled aboard a bus, and who entered into Mexico illegally, were secured by Federal forces personnel at a military checkpoint of the Tapachula-Talisman international highway.
Around 10 AM, the migrants boarded a collective Ciudad Hidalgo bus with a destination to Tapachula, but on arriving, officials of the Federal forces interviewed seven passengers. Asked to provide their documents to stay in the country legally, seven foreign nationals reported that they had entered Mexico illegally and that they had no documents.
Federal agents informed them that they would be secured and place at the disposal of the National Institute of Migration (INM), however, the migrants would not say if there was any human smuggler and they traveled alone. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2749038.htm
Migrant Victims Rescued (El Sol de Tijuana, 10/23/12)
Tijuana, BC - After a clash between elements of the State preventive police and alleged hijackers of migrants, eleven would-be illegal immigrants were released, including a Honduran, on the Tijuana-Tecate road.
The detainees are Raúl Adrián Sánchez Ramos, 25, Alejandro Morales Pérez, 18, and Agustín Flores Escobedo, 29, who were embroiled in a confrontation with and shot by elements of the PEP.
The Secretariat of Public Security of the State (SSPE), reported the incident occurred on the Tijuana-Tecate road near a toll collection booth at noon. "A call was made to 066 by a would-be undocumented who managed to escape from the kidnappers", said security authorities.
One of the victims is of Honduran origin and the others are from different states in Mexico, so far, said SSPE authorities. To transfer the alleged hijackers, intervention was necessary by a special PEP group using a helicopter, so the highway had to be closed. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2743724.htm
