California DMV Announces New Cannabis License Plates (10/25/12)
In a press release yesterday, the DMV said availability of a Special Interest Cannabis license plate will begin in January 2013. The plate will contain the image of large 5-point marijuana leaf. Initial and renewal costs for the plate are expected to be comparable to other special interest plates. Medical cannabis dispensaries and growers will benefit from plate proceeds. The state is expected to receive over $35 million from distribution of the plates based on the number of marijuana smokers in California. Strict limitations however are already in place regarding personalization. Wording that includes or alludes to getting high will be prohibited.
Chargers Win Early Super Bowl (10/25/12)
In an upset victory, the San Diego Chargers called the 2012-13 NFL season over, claiming the Super Bowl victory with a 2-3 record. Quarterback Phillips Rivers said, “It’s done, over, we won.” An enormous tickertape parade will be held this Saturday down Broadway and up Harbor Drive ending at the new Chargers Stadium site, beginning at 11 AM. Fans are ecstatic about the Chargers finally winning the Super Bowl in their lifetime. Coach Norv Turner told news crews, “Everyone is so damn happy. We should also think about doing this for the Padres next. We should give them a World Series win. Just like us, they deserve it. Hoo-rah.”
