Two Clandestine Pemex Outlets Found in BC (El Mexicano, 10/17/12)

MEXICALI, BC - Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) physical security elements tracked down two closed clandestine outlets in the 10 inch Rosarito-Mexicali oil pipeline. Pemex workers found an empty 20 liter can and a buried hose.

The first was located in the municipality of Tecate, vented near a several army artifacts and two hoses of more than approximately 5 and 1.5 meters in length.

The second illegal outlet was discovered in the municipality of Tijuana. Not easily seen, but after the removal of soil you could smell fuel right away.

After finishing the work to dismantle the illegal connections, the Pemex pipelines security staff will proceed to make permanent repair of the affected lines.

Free Culinary Arts Instruction Offered for Disabled Youth (El Mexicano, 10/17/12 by Lucía Gomez Sanchez)

TIJUANA, BC - Youth with disabilities may learn culinary arts at DocStyle Cuisine Academy A.C., a body of civil society which offers an opportunity to become technical food specialists and get decent jobs to earn a living.

Chef Luis Martín Castro, President of DocStyle, is seeking candidates to be part of the first generation of this effort to integrate people with disabilities into productive life. He said that any young person with disabilities is a candidate and can participate in the project which is intended to teach culinary arts as a means of subsistence. He said the first generation of DocStyle will be through a scholarship with everything needed to learn how to cook not only for themself but for the public in restaurant dining areas.

The Agency will pay for theoretical and practical classes four times a week, three hours a day, he said. The curriculum is designed to end in year and a half and once they finish, graduates will get a certificate with official validity from the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP). Applicants are subject to a socio-economic review and an official record of special education to determine required skills.

Once integrated into groups, which will be of maximum 10 people per shift, young people take classes at DocStyle facilities located at the Plaza Paseo del Rio local 4-D at the tercera etapa del Río, he explained.
