More than 10,000 Visit the SSPM at Tijuana Innovative (El Sol de Tijuana, 10/17/12)
Tijuana, BC - More than 10,000 people have visited the Secretariat of Municipal Public Safety (SSPM) module at Tijuana Innovadora 2012, located in the corridors of the Omnimax, Centro Cultural Tijuana (Cecut).
The module director on crime prevention and citizen participation, Priscilia García Cortez, said the figure has exceeded expectations, after only a few days after the inauguration of this international event."We are very pleased by the response of the public. We have seen how families come and are interested in the work of our police. We want to gain confidence and be close to them," she said.
Garcia Cortez referred to the daily visitors to the module and the more than 500 students at basic, middle and upper levels. She indicated, "The assistance to children and young students allows us to sow the seed of the complaint and generate new allies against criminal behavior affecting our community".
Municipal police officers assigned to the module said they are satisfied by the reaction of visitors.The official José García López said, "Children and youth put on a police or firefighter uniform, climb on the motorcycle or the fire truck, take souvenir photos and are very happy". He added, "We've had a greater influx than we expected and that means that people trust us, that we are doing our job well".
Finally, he invited the industry "You know little of what we do in the Municipal police and how much you can help us in the prevention of crime".
In addition to information on crime prevention programs and citizen participation, the SSPM module visitors receive brochures with tips to prevent accidents and fires in the home. This includes the proper use of emergency numbers, 066, and anonymous complaints, 089, as well as phones numbers of districts police to report an urgenct event near home.
Two English and Spanish bilingual officers have been commissioned to serve tourists from the other side of the border.The module operates from 9 am to 7 pm, and the public receives a souvenir bracelet and pin with positive messages, besides that you can interact and take a photo with police officers and firefighters. Tourism Benefit is 20 Million Pesos this Year (El Sol de Tijuana, 10/17/12)
Tijuana, BC - The economic benefit of tourist activities in Tijuana 2012 is close to 20 million pesos ($1.6 million US), said the director of the Committee of Tourism and Conventions (Cotuco), said Alan Baptist Plascencia.
Interviewed prior to a press conference to announce the Global Congress of Human Management Resources Industry Association in Tijuana, AC (ARHITAC), he said the figure is good according to events that took place.
They were 50 different types of events throughout the year in the city and the visitors were provided with lodging, transportation, food and visits to recreational sites. He added, "This has a positive impact on tourism and therefore the economy of Tijuana."
According to projections for next year, Bautista Plascencia said 10 events are programmed, including conferences related to the arts and medicine.
