5 Accidents Leave 3 Dead and 2 Injured (AFN, 10/17/12)
TIJUANA, BC - Municipal police reported that on Tuesday, at different sites of the city, there were five crashes, in which a man and two women died, and two persons injured; among the latter 7 year old and a 10 month baby whose father had her in a stroller.
The first case was recorded at 6:50 am on vía rápida Poniente and la calle Baños de Aguacaliente in la colonia 20 de Noviembre, where the driver of an unknown vehicle hit a woman and left the scene abandoning the victim. The decedent did not have identification and her age was estimated to be between 27 and 30 years old.
At 5:20 pm, at la avenida Acueducto and calle Río Sonora in la colonia Camino Verde, delegación La Mesa, a vehicle injured a 7-year-old boy identified as Juan Carlos Macías Colmenero, who was attended to by Red Cross paramedics and taken to the General Hospital in Tijuana. The report notes he was hit by Francisco Zepeda Martha, 47, the driver of a white 1995 Ford Ranger truck with Baja California BP37706 plates.
A police report said that at 5:45 pm in la delegación La Presa at la del Corredor 2000 and la calle Óscar Martínez in la colonia Altiplano, three vehicles ran over and killed a woman of approximately 35, of sturdy build, with a dark complexion and 1.60 meters in height, who had a white blouse and blue denim pants. A witness, the report states involved three drivers, one in a white sedan, another in a black sedan, who fled, and Sergio Enrique Rodríguez Vázquez, 48, the driver of a gray 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck, with BP25774 Baja California plates. The deceased was attended to by Red Cross paramedics, who indicated the woman was already dead, as also confirmed by Servicios Periciales staff and an agent of the negligent homicides public prosecutor's office, and ordered the removal of the body by medical forensics staff.

The wounded was a minor, Diana Leonora Soto Escobar, ten months of age, who was transferred from the stroller pushed by her father, who was also attended by Red Cross staff and taken by ambulance to General Hospital for better medical care. The driver was identified as Salvador Carlos Espinoza Velazco, 53, in a blue 1984 Ford Van with California plates 2H86776.
The last report was on the death of a cyclist at 9:20 pm in the delegación La Mesa and the driver fled in a white Nissan sedan. The victim, who's name’s was not specified, lost his life at la vía rápida Poniente and calle Manuel Esperón in la colonia 20 de noviembre, aboard a blue 2001 Routmaster brand bicycle.
