TIJUANA, BC - The support of the community is requested to establish the whereabouts of Angélica Janeth Rangel Mariscal, 17, who has been reported missing. Family members said she left her home on September 29 going to a store in the Horóscopo colony, but has since not returned. Angelica has clear a Brown complexion, measures 1.60 meters (5’ 3”), weighs 86 kilograms (189 lbs.) and has a mole on the left side of her nose. Flooding Problems Forecasted (Frontera, 12/10/12)
ROSARITO, BC - Close to 300 families living in at-risk areas about the dangers imminent with the arrival of the rainy season were notified to take appropriate measures to keep safe in the event that an emergency. Octavio Méndez, director of Municipal Civil Protection presented forecasts of rain for the season warning that rainfall will be abundant and that the phenomenon of El Niño could exist. Since the temperature at the equator is above average it indicates that the rains will be more abundant.
He said families that inhabit the Cordero, arroyo El Morro, Chula Vista, en la Ampliación Plan Libertador y Los Ramos, among others, lie in places prone to flooding and landslides which might damage their homes in heavy rains. Mendez Stover cautioned that it is important that people are aware of the risks and prepare emergency measures to safeguard their lives.
He also noted a case in the area of Primo Tapia a few months ago that suffered a landslide affecting five families. The Secretariat of Communications and Transport (SCT) determined what work will be needed to avoid further landslides on the hill that borders the scenic highway to prevent additional major impact. It is unknown when that work will commence.
