Baja & Border News Translations: Over 5000 Young Lazos Register for Military Service; Tijuana Leaders Meet in Hong Kong

Over 5000 Young Lazos Register for Military Service (El Sol de Tijuana, 11/12/12 by Rocio Galvan)

Tijuana, BC - Very early this Sunday and in the cold, 5,812 young Lazos (tijuanenses), went forward and reluctantly filled the outdoor Esplanade of the Municipal Palace of Tijuana to wait for a drawing for national military service, where 770 obtained a white ball and avoided the exercise to demonstrate this selection which is an important step for some and for others an endorsement of their commitment to the country.

Some of the minor applicants, who were interviewed, indicated many only had participated in the procedure because it is indispensable for obtaining other important documents, while others pointed out that they feel proud to be Mexican and signed up because it means a lot for the fatherland.

This is one of the most important civic obligations of Mexicans and therefore the almost 6,000 young people according to the statistics, provided the largest number to the air force, said meteorologist Javier Gómez Ortega, who participated in this annual activity.

For its part, the Secretary of Government of the municipality, Alcide Roberto Beltrones Rivera, on behalf of Mayor Carlos Bustamante – traveling in Asia - recognized the civility, willingness and commitment of young people who inhabit this border, with the motherland. He told them that they represent a new generation of responsible citizens in Mexico and its laws, and Tijuana needs those men and women at their age with positive energy who are willing to be good additions to this enormous and patriotic commitment. He added that authorities are working to achieve a city order and better living conditions with the effective provision of public services and greater safety.

For its part, recruitment Board Chief Mario Ochoa Munguía congratulated recruits for their interest in complying with this civic duty. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2767687.htm

Tijuana Leaders Meet in Hong Kong (El Sol de Tijuana, 11/12/12)

Hong Kong - Continuing his tour of Asia, the municipal President Carlos Bustamante Anchondo met with the consul general of Mexico in Hong Kong, Alicia Buenrostro Massieu, who agreed to create a working relationship with this country, as well as the Organization of the Asian-Pacific Seminar, for the industrial and commercial sector of Tijuana.

During the meeting held at the offices of the Mexican Consulate in Hong Kong, Bustamante Anchondo highlighted industrial and business growth in our region, supported mechanisms that have driven the establishment of new markets in this frontier, such as the granting of fiscal incentives and the implementation of a system for quickly opening companies (SARE), that make Tijuana a more attractive city for investment.

Mayor Carlos Bustamante pointed out that these measures have promoted the virtues of the city, creating job links with countries such as Hong Kong, as well as the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills through training and seminars, such as the Asian-Pacific Conference which will be held in Hong Kong for the industrial and commercial sectors of Tijuana.

For its part, Alicia Buenrostro Massieu recognized the business maturity of Tijuana, offering platforms that are attractive to investors from Asian countries to settle in our region. She said it is important to seek the support of the new federal Government to open the doors to unilateral development and facilitate means to establish companies in Tijuana.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana (Sedeti), Miguel Velasco Bustamante; Director of Industrial Building in Tijuana, José López Castellanos; and the President of Deitac, David Mayagoitia.

Later, the delegation headed by the consul Alicia Buenrostro, and Mayor Tijuanense attended the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Fair, where Mexican wineries made their presence in the Pavilion, showing the high quality of its wines and products. There, the officials agreed to promote and distribute these products in Hong Kong.

Later, the Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana (Sedeti), Miguel Velasco Bustamante and the rest of the Mexican delegation, attended a lecture given by José Carlos Bezanilla, representative of Great Place to Work, where the philosophy of the company was discussed to create support using methodologies of work in team businesses that aspire to success.

After the Conference, Velasco Bustamante and José Carlos Bezanilla held a meeting with Thomas W. Shang, entrepreneur and specialist in Accounting Affairs of the firm CWCC Certified Public Accountants of Hong Kong, who agreed to promote a Sisterhood between the two cities to strengthen business relations, as well as a cultural exchange as an attractive point of foreign investment. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldetijuana/notas/n2767735.htm
