Mexicali, BC - During the last three days a mega cleaning operation in the zona de Los Santorales was carried-out, removing about 700 tons of various waste from about 40 vacant lots, said Alberto Ibarra Ojeda. The director of public services in Mexicali, said much of the work is being done to clean that area of the city, but with the support of citizens it can be completed faster.
Monday kicked-off the program called "Patio Limpio” (Clean Patio) in the Santo Niño and Large Santo Niño colonies. Today the work continued on a few more streets of this last colony. He announced that tomorrow trucks will be going through colony El Refugio and the Large Refugio. Residents will be asked to dispose of what they have accumulated outside their homes on their patios.
Ibarra Ojeda stressed they will be in each colony and subdivision in the area west of the city, where they will be removing old furniture and a variety of junk, so he asked the population to have those items prepared at their homes on that day. The official noted that in regard to vacant lots, all work completed will be charged to the owner’s property tax account.
He said, the cost invested by Town Hall is 200 pesos ($15.30 US) per square meter, because in addition to picking up the trash and debris, you have to take it for disposal, plus there is fuel used among other costs. http://www.oem.com.mx/lavozdelafrontera/notas/n2763688.htm

The Mayor congratulated women committed to maintaining safe and friendly spaces for the children who do not have other relatives who can take care of them while their fathers or mothers work.
"We know that they were waiting for this land use permit and we now invite them to meet all requirements necessary to operate the children's stay," said Aleti Aedile. The event was attended by the director of urban administration, José Manuel Herrera de León; Trustee Attorney, Alfredo Ascolani and the Receivership Director of Drug Control, Víctor Ávalos Figueroa. http://www.oem.com.mx/lavozdelafrontera/notas/n2763690.htm
