Baja & Border News Translations: 16 Breathalyzers Will be Out on Christmas Eve; Border will be Cloudy but Without Rain this Saturday

16 Breathalyzers Will be Out on Christmas Eve (Frontera, 12/22/12)

TIJUANA, BC – On the occasion of the Christmas holidays, 16 breathalyzers will be established throughout the city, during the night of the 24th and the morning of December 25. Francisco Javier Viruete Munguía, director-general of police and transit indicated there will be eight posts in the city, which in practice will become 16, since they will work in both directions.

He stressed that this action is part of operation "White Christmas", whose primary purpose is the Lazos 1000th day of full security without a regreted mishap. He added that with the consent of the municipal President, Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, the holder of the SSPM, Jesús Alberto Capella Ibarra, he gave instructions for maximum support of motorists so they arrive at their destinations safe.

Drivers who are caught after having ingested too much alcohol and are with someone capable of driving "in an officer’s opinion", a passenger will be allowed to take the steering wheel. In the event the driver traveling alone and living near the checkpoint, the vehicle will be escorted home by a patrol car. However, those who drink excessively and behave in a dangerous way with officers shall be sent to the public prosecutor of the common law. Viruete Munguía commented that checkpoints will be installed around 7 p.m. and will work, tentatively, until 2 a.m. on December 25.

He reiterated the population refrain from too much toasting, and thereby avoid a family holiday, like Christmas, to end with regrettable situations that sometime also harm innocent people. He emphasized that personnel of the General Directorate of Police and Transit have received instructions from the Secretary, Jesús Alberto Capella Ibarra, to show the human face of the Secretariat of the Industry and give efficient and high quality service.

Border will be Cloudy but Without Rain this Saturday (Frontera, 12/22/12)

TIJUANA, BC - Cloudiness will increase as the day progresses but there is little chance of rain is forecasted today by the State Directorate of Civil Protection (SCPD).

According to the weather report, this Saturday is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius with winds of 5 to 10 miles from the southeast at times and a relative humidity of 66%.
