Community Center Opens in Emperadores (AFN, 12/11/12)

TIJUANA, BC - Residents of colonia Emperadores received with great satisfaction the community center built for them by the State Government through the Ministry of Social Development (SEDESOE) and given to them by the Undersecretary in zona Costa, Mario Osuna Jiménez.

In this work, the officer said, they invested 1.7 million pesos ($133,245 US) and fulfilled a commitment to residents of this populous colony where they may perform different productive, cultural and sporting activities. Osuna reiterated this work is one of multiple commitments Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan has fulfilled to Baja California families this year.

The center consists of two floors with a ramp for handicapped people where users may perform various activities such as workshops, festivals or meetings, the official said.

The official said SEDESOE allocated 626.1 million pesos ($49 million US) this year for social works, of which Tijuana also provided 207.5 million ($16.2 million US), representing a significant increase compared with resources in 2011.

Osuna said resources are focused on social infrastructures, which contribute to overcoming poverty and the improvement of the quality of life of inhabitants in marginalized urban areas to strengthen and improve the environment, organizations and community participation.

And he added, community works are considered of high social impact in public areas with community spaces, parks and squares, popular sports, walking paths and staircases, green areas, improvements to housing, art and popular culture, facilities for vulnerable groups, educational spaces, road surfacing and basic infrastructure services.

The Assistant Secretary reiterated that community works executed in the State, are made in response to requests of residents and according to instructions of Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan. http://www.afntijuana.info/informacion_general/14664_ya_tienen_centro_comunitario_en_la_emperadores
