1.5 Million Tires Recycled (La Cronica, 12/10/12 by Gina Rodríguez)
SAN LUIS RÍO COLORADO, Sonora - More than 1,600 tons of tires, i.e. about 1.5 million tires have been recycled during the first six months of operation of a San Luis Río Colorado company shredder.
The company representative, Armando Fernández Morales, indicated the recycling of tires decreases environmental risks for citizens and health issues with the accumulation of tires, posing a risk of fire and reproduction of harmful pests.
On Monday, the City Council and company representative signed a contract to launch the second phase of used tire disposal that represents a sustainable solution to the accumulation problem of such scrapped material.
The convention was signed by Mayor Leonardo Guillén, Martín Ortega Vélez, Secretary of the Town Hall and Armando Fernández Morales, manager of the company. http://www.lacronica.com/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Noticias/10122012/648736.aspx
