BORDER NEWS TRANSLATIONS: Wrong Prisoners Out; Migration Act; Data Hacked

SAN DIEGO CA (Frontera, 5/25/11) - It was disclosed here today, California released by mistake and left without supervision, some 450 prisoners considered highly dangerous, according to research by the Office of the Inspector General (IGO). The Inspector General, a division of Internal Affairs of the federal Government, indicated that prisoners considered at-risk were released in 2010 based on a program, which left free 1,500 prisoners who are not hazardous, with good conduct and upon completion of their sentences. The special report on the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation of California (CCD) by the Inspector General revealed that about 1,000 were released in total. 500 of them should not, including about 450 that are high risk and violent. The report recommended returning the convicts to prison before they commit new crimes, and criticized the CCD for "endangering the public security" of California. The legislator who requested the Inspector General investigation, Ted Liu, said for his part in a statement that the number of high risk and violent prisoners released last year could be up to 2,075. Seeking to reduce prison overcrowding the authorities gave these prisoners official reviews of conditional release. They were set free under the good conduct early release program. The freed prisoners are without supervision since being set free and in most cases, their whereabouts are unknown.

ENSENADA BC (El Observador Diario, 5/24/11) - President Felipe Calderón issued the Migration Act, which is an instrument that deals with this phenomenon in a comprehensive manner and reflects the best of the hospitable tradition of Mexico, which has always been a country that is generous to those who need protection. In the "Adolfo López Mateos" Hall of the official residence of Los Pinos, he defined that it is legislation with advanced respect for human rights and human dignity of migrants, irrespective of their nationality. He argued that this new law represents the most significant advance in the immigration field over the last 80 years, and Mexico is in the forefront worldwide.

MEXICALI BC (La Chronica, Hugo Y. Martinez, 5/25/11) With file number DC/RES/263/2011 there is an investigation of four individuals suspected responsible for the deletion of information at the City Council on April 26.
