Border News Translations: High School Openings; Wait Times; Rollover

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, Laura Durán, 5/24/11) - Unlike other years, Tijuana recorded an increased demand for places in high school classes in the West. As a result, they will open 850 extra places in this part of the city, confirmed the Secretary of Education in the State, Javier Santillán Pérez. Serán Cecyte Río and Cecyte Playas de Tijuana will be institutions receiving extra tuition to absorb students requiring a place in high school, he said. "At the close of business on Friday we had thousand spaces in the eastern area of the city at the high school level care module. We found the pressure this year was in the West. The eastern zone is covered 100% with the creation of Cecytes and Cobach that we opened", he said. According to the information, said Santillán Pérez, about 2,500 extra students from the third high school to high school graduation, requested places in the State to continue high school. Of that number, 2,300 were students behind in their studies and about 200 or more are from other areas that have just arrived to the State or will come soon to finish their school year in June. Module registration for these students will be open from 8 am to 3 pm from Monday to Friday at the offices of the State Educational System (SEE) above the Biblioteca Benito Juárez located in Centro de Gobierno in Zona Río.

Gomez, 5/24/11) - This morning there was a wait of more than an hour at the United States border crossing from Tijuana via the San Ysidro port of entry, according to the Internet site of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP for its acronym in English). At 09: 00 via San Ysidro, the wait was 1 hour and 33 minutes in the car crossing with 19 lines open and a 35-minute wait at the pedestrian crossing with 14 lines open. At the same time via the Otay port of entry, the wait was 25 minutes in the car crossing with 8 open lines and a wait of 20 minutes at the pedestrian crossing with 6 lines open.

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, 5/24/11) - After a rollover, a driver was unhurt early today on the Vía Rápida Poniente. The accident occurred around 2: 15 am near IMSS Clínica Uno, in delegación Cerro Colorado. The unidentified driver was operating a grey Toyota pick-up and lost control, ran off the road and ended up overturned. However, he was unhurt in the incident. Police and transit staff who came to his rescue pointed out that the rollover was due to a mechanical failure, by what was revealed by a wheel on the right side.
