The arrest took place in an area located between Calles Las Pilas and Vallecitos Sur, in colonia La Jolla.
At the time PEP agents were patrolling the road, they noted a person carrying a gun in his hands. Said person became aware of police presence and tried to escape. He entered a home marked with the number 70. Agents continued his pursuit and arrested him in the back yard. He was identified as Carlos Samuel Hernández Chávez, 20. Hernández Chávez had thrown the gun to the ground. Officers identified the weapon as a Ruger carbine mark .22-caliber.
Immediately arriving at the place of arrest was a Lincoln Navigator occupied by Rosa Elvia Chávez Barajas, 54, Carlos Miguel Hernández Chávez, 20, and Charles Barba Jauregui, 53. The woman was said to be the owner of the home, and Carlos Samuel is her son. In addition to seizing the firearm on the property, they performed a precautionary search of the people who came to the site. The Preventive State Police conducted an inspection of the Lincoln Navigator, where they found a box containing 85 .22-caliber cartridges and other items.
