Martinez, 5/11/11) - Mexican poet and novelist, Daniel Sada Villareal has won the Premio Xavier Villaurrutia and el Premio Herralde de Novela, granted in Spain by the editorial Anagrama. His work has been described as Baroque and tragic. His novels include, “Porque parece mentira la verdad nunca se sabe” (Because it seems a lie the truth you never know), “Juguete de nadie y otras historias” (Toy of no one and other stories), “Luces artificiales” (Artificial lights) and his most recent work “Casi nunca” (Almost never) published by Anagrama in 2008, among others. Born in Mexicali on February 25, 1953, as a child he moved with his parents to Coahuila. He has always talked about the native land, either through his literary imagination, his Northern affiliations or bonds of friendship with people of this city. He studied at Periodismo en la Escuela Carlos Septién García obtaining a degree in journalism, after which he was a fellow Centro Mexicano de Escritores, del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA), and Fondo Nacional para las Actividades Sociales (Fonapas). He has also been a fellow of the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (FONCA) and since 1994 part of Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA). "He is one novelists who can reveal contemporary Hispanic literature and having been born in Mexicali, still maintains multiple fraternal ties throughout Baja California," said Jorge Ortega, Member of Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte and a close friend of the writer in relation to his work. "Daniel Sada is the cultural heritage of Mexicali and Baja California. The world already knows, now the local authorities know", he said. SAN LUIS RÍO COLORADO, Sonora (LaCronica, Alberto Sánchez, 5/11/11) - The newly integrated canine unit of the Municipal Public Security Directorate joined the operational head of police and transit roads. Since Monday, the pair of perros-policía participated in screening for road safety where the agency deploys them in different parts of the city. The Commander of the section of transit, Jesús Zamora Rodríguez, explained the K-9 unit supports locating any narcotic drugs or guns held by persons or in vehicles. Police officers verify the possession of documents for both drivers and vehicles, the use of seat belts, state of awareness, among other aspects that help to prevent accidents and crimes, he said.
