Border News Translations: Shootout; Ice Bust; Sex Assault

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, Luis Gerardo Andrade, 5/5/11) - A strong police response was seen after a shootout occurred in delegación Centenario. The incident happened this morning on the main street of colonia Nueva Esperanza. According to neighbors, four men entered a house and within minutes, gun blasts were heard. People retreated on foot heading to a hill and municipal police continued seeking them until midday. No injured persons were found, although they found some spots of blood.

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, Luis Gerardo Andrade, 5/5/11) - Two young men were arrested with 260 doses of the drug known as "ice" in the colonia Mariano Matamoros by elements of the State preventive police (PEP). The detention came during a patrol by PEP units in the eastern area of the city, while on Calle San Quintín del fraccionamiento Mariano Matamoros when they noticed a speeding car. Once stopped, occupants were removed from the vehicle. The driver was Alejandro Torrealba Flores, 18, while his companion was identified as Edgar Avel "N", 17. While checking the driver, 240 packages containing synthetic drugs referred to as "ice" were found in the front right pocket of his pants. In the possession of the minor were found another 20 doses of "ice". He stated that he distributes from "narcomenudistas" in the area, then in turn sells them and to make money that is given back to the first. Both individuals were released to competent authority, who will determine the disposition of their case.

ROSARITO BC (Frontera, Carmen Gutiérrez, 5/5/11) - A child under 7 years of age was the reported victim of sexual abuse perpetrated by another child, a 17-year-old that lives in the next house. The Municipal police officers who came to the home of the victim in colonia Constitución took the account from the mother of the child. She related to the officers that moments before the complaint, her son came home and began to complain about pain in the anus, and explained that his neighbor, known as "Chuy" had abused him. The woman immediately called police, confirmed the facts and pointed out the home of the alleged abuser. Officials talked with the individual’s mother who agreed to bring his son to the authorities. Both were loaded into the patrol car and taken to the police station.
