Border News: Beach Trash; 2 Arrested; Medical Appointments Available

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, Laura Durán, 6/5/11) - About seven tons of trash were removed from Playas Tijuana during the Limpiemos México campaign involving a thousand people. The end of the event was held at noon today and was attended by the Mayor of the city, Carlos Bustamante who congratulated TV Azteca, a company that for the third consecutive year promoted this laudable campaign. According to TV Azteca executives this year, a thousand people participated and collected 220 sacks of garbage. This was more volunteers and trash than last year. With music, an exhibition of toys from recycled materials and a fashion show ended the activity that brought people together at the foot of the lighthouse of beaches of Tijuana.

The victim reported that everything was stolen from the consultation of the pharmacy area. When the doctor received a supposed patient, he suddenly moved in with a knife under his clothes. With this knife threatened the doctor with death and said it was best to give him all the money and belongings. The victim agreed and gave him a Citizen watch, a gold bracelet, two gold rings, a cell phone and 3,500 pesos ($300). He also forced the victim to give him clothes and get into the bathroom while he escaped. Witnesses said he fled in a yellow Caprice sedan with no plates. He was arrested later the same day. The injured party filed a criminal complaint with the public prosecutor who would ask the Juez Tercero de lo Penal for it, was provided and completed by ministerial officers on May 30 in Otay. In both cases, detainees were interned in the penitentiary of the Mesa in Tijuana being available to the corresponding courts to determine their legal status.

The Director explained that scheduled medical appointments would allow scheduled consultations and reduce waiting times for patients. It would, as well allow the provision of medical care and the ability to give priority to users with greater complications. Macareno Alvarado referred patients who come to the units very early, will be able to access a file, avoid long lines, and have a program for patients who come on a regular basis for treatment.
