TIJUANA (El Linea Tijuana) – On Tuesday at about 8:10 p.m., a former municipal policeman was executed close to the fraccionamiento Infonavit Presidentes in the delegación Cerro Colorado, according to police authorities. The former policeman was gunned down after the assailants shouted his name at the main roundabout of this popular colony. Ruben Radilla Ramirez died at the scene. He served as a police officer until two years ago. According to early accounts, the deceased was the brother of the former head of Policía Municipal en Tijuana. The brother Monica Guadalupe Ramírez Radilla was detained by authorities, in June 2006 to provide witness protection from a cell of the Arellano Felix cartel, from the Subprocuraduría de Investigación Especializada en Delincuencia Organizada (SIEDO) - Attorney of Specialized Research in the Heaviest Organized Crime. During the Government of Jorge Hank, Monica Radilla served as Chief of Police in the delegación Cerro Colorado and Sánchez Taboada. During his imprisonment, he died in the penitenciaría de La Mesa, a victim of cancer.
MEXICALI (El Linea Tijuana) - 49,319 calls were processed by the Control, Comando, Comunicación y Cómputo Center (C4) during Holy week via the anonymous complaint 089 and 066 emergency numbers, reported Marco Antonio Sotomayor Amezcua, director of the State Center. He indicated that they called upon citizens to respect speed limits and to always use safety belts. Monitoring at various places of traffic by police was an implementation of the State Prevention Campaign for road safety. Unfortunately, a minor lost his life on the road from San Felipe to Mexicali. He stressed that because of deployed police operating throughout the State, they obtained satisfactory results in the decrease in rate of house robberies reported, which was also helped through citizen participation in reporting any suspicious activities. None of the schools reported any crime. He stressed that bilingual personnel were on all shifts in the State C-4 Centers, which allowed foreigners requesting information to obtain immediate service in coordination with the Secretaría de Turismo. Sotomayor Amezcua pointed out that, unfortunately during this holiday period there was an increase in the number of “emergency false or joke” calls to the line 066, and explained that is common at holiday times, because it is a time when minors are without enough supervision over their phone use and joke making. He indicated the Police Department must respond to any distress call requested by a citizen, but occasionally calls for needed service are delayed by false alarms because of "false emergency or jokes".
