Border News Translations 22: Holiday Safety Campaign

San Diego Red recently reported that the Secretary of public security in B.C intends to distribute over 150,000 leaflets with information on preventive measures for thousands of students and employees to consider during the Easter season holidays. The campaign aims to raise awareness among local tourists and citizens about responsible driving and road safety to reduce auto accidents and also crimes related to home burglaries or thefts. The Secretary of public security of B.C., Daniel la Rosa, said they will be handing out the flyers in the busiest sections of all municipalities in the B.C. In addition, he indicated, all police departments will conduct surveillance operations on roadways and in various public and private colonies. The officer called upon the community "to think before they act and prevent before they regret", because this can help save lives. "Let's assume a commitment and put it into practice, not only during these dates, but as permanent attitudes and behaviors," he added. The flyer brings simple recommendations: to not drive drunk or when you are tired, check your vehicle condition before traveling, use seat belts and obey traffic signals. In Tijuana, of medical emergency, civil protection, education sector staff and citizens, will divide leaflets within beach, River, refuge, La Mesa and Otay areas.
