According to El Linea Tijuana, one of the city’s daily papers, members of the Mexican Federal Police and the Tijuana Municipal Police reportedly became involved in a contentious brawl with each other on a busy Tijuana city street this Friday morning. The event began when a Federal Police unit gave chase to the occupants of blue Dodge Ram pickup on Salinas Boulevard. The poor driving of the federal agent while attempting a turn was said to result in a crash of the federal unit into a pole and a phone booth. When municipal police arrived on the crash scene, they were denied access by the Feds. The situation then became even tenser when a federal agent fired his weapon. Before long, Gustavo Huerta Martínez, the Secretary of Municipal Public Security, arrived at the scene to speak with Federal Police Superiors and took control of the situation that by now had already become a shouting match.
