What is the sound of one SEDC shredder shredding?

In the City's call for the resignation of Southeastern Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) President Carolyn Smith, one kind of got the idea that this meant now, pronto, mach schnell, IMMEDIATELY...

What Ms. Smith got was 90 days to clean house and get things in order for her successor, as auditors wait for documents to be examined and previewed (by the same SEDC staffers who were paid in excess of the City's approved version of the annual SEDC budget) before releasing those documents for audit.

After the federal criminal trial involving the previous 4th District councilmember who died before being tried, and after the current councilmember from the same office had to fire one staffer for soliciting contractors and possibly others for loans in the office, the current actions by the outgoing SEDC president and her obviously loyal staffers may end up making the current crew on the San Diego City Council look like paragons of virtue...

... even though the Securities and Exchange Commission still has a leash on four of those current councilmembers.

Meanwhile, back at the SEDC ranch at MarketCreek Plaza, one still ponders the sound of one shredder shredding...

Back in early 2001, when Ricardo Luna was still trying to convince me of the "economic racism" that he saw in the activities at the decommissioning of the Encanto Gas Holder site as it sent its storm runoff into Lemon Grove and Southeast San Diego via Chollas Creek, I remember telling him that while we all might be thinking that, and we may even KNOW that, all of it would be hard to prove without any evidence...

(Cue shredder noise... fade out as Department of Justice press release of the 2006 US v. SDG&E criminal indictment spins into focus from center like a newspaper headline in an old movie...)

Yes, all of these blog entries are somehow inevitably related.

So... like... has the County Grand Jury been paying any attention to SEDC lately?
