Crazy Costumes -- Target Targeted, Illegal Aliens Offended

Cheech Marin’s song “Born in East L.A.”, the parody of Springsteen’s hit, was in my head all weekend.

It stemmed from seeing the story about the Target store in L.A. that had illegal alien costumes. Those had a mask of a space alien (you know the look…bald green head, big eyes), but the aliens were in an orange jumpsuit and had a green card. The words “illegal alien” were written on the shirt.

I don’t think there would’ve been anything so offensive about it, although, one of the aliens came with a big Cheech Marin style mustache.

After complaints, Target pulled the costumes. Apparently they were upsetting to illegal aliens. And of course, that’s the last thing we’d want to do in this country – offend people that aren’t legally here.

A more morbid Halloween story was going on in L.A. It involved residents of an apartment complex in Marina del Rey that saw a dead body slumped on a balcony. It was the body of Mostafa Mahmoud Zayed, a 75-year-old who shot himself in the head.

Days and days went by, without anyone calling the police at the site of Zayed on his balcony in a bloody mess. The neighbors said they assumed it was a dummy, set up as a Halloween display.

I smell a “Weekend at Bernies -- Part III.”
