The Diaper Darling -- Astronauts Gone Wild

I initially thought I'd write a blog about the possible Aerosmith break-up. It just lends itself to so many possibilities.

Would Aerosmith find a singer as ugly as Tyler? Would they go for someone as old? Or would they find a young dude from some Aerosmith tribute band. I think there's one called Aero-myth that's playing in San Juan Capistriano next week.

And when ever I hear of the latest tribute band, I always think of all the possible band names they could've used. "Dudes Look Like Aerosmith" is probably a bit long, huh?

But I figure a blog on a band that only a handful of people might like, alienates too many.

Instead, I thought I'd talk about a few news stories. It's what I do most often, I know. But really, having been on Facebook for a few weeks now, and reading the boring posts about what kind of sandwiches my friends are making for their kids school lunches...I figure nobody wants my blog to be a longer version of that (although I did have an amazing pastriami on rye at D.Z. Akins, but I digest).

The diaper darling is back in the news. Remember Lisa Nowak, who tried to wack a fellow astronaunt who was having an affair with the married man she was also having an affair with?

Well, her lawyers claimed she merely wanted to talk to this woman. I guess at NASA, they haven't heard of the cell phone. Or maybe, like on airplanes when you have to turn your cell off, the same thing happens when you go into orbit. So they just down own the things.

Instead, she drove 1,000 miles, wearing an adult diaper so she wouldn't have to stop to go to the bathroom (not sure why she didn't just go when she gassed up the vehicle).

And, for having materials that cops said was the perfect murder kid (handcuffs, pepper spray, disguises, etc)...she was given the harsh sentence of....(drum roll, please)....Two days in jail and a year probation.

She pleaded guilty to third-degree felony burglary and misdemeanor battery. But she was originally charged with two felonies (attemptred kidnapping and burglary). She was facing life in prison, too.

But our idiotic legal system lets this nut job out with merely probation. And, she has three kids, I believe. How are they safe?

She should've at least been forced to go to a doctor of some kind, or some anger management classes.

I'm guessing the legal system will also mess up the Letterman case, involving the TV producer that allegedly demanded $2 million or he'd release info on various affairs Dave had with staff. He's trying to say now it was merely a business deal and that he was trying to sell a screenplay to him.

Since Letterman got his lawyer involved, and the FBI recorded the phone calls...it seems to me this should be a pretty simple case. I have to think the FBI told them EXACTLY what to say, to pin the extortion charge on him.

If they failed to do that...or some jury just decides they aren't sure...I'm really going to go off. We spend way too much money on these cases that don't result in guilty verdicts.
