I'm trying to catch up on some magazines and newspapers I haven't read. A few news stories in the paper caught my eye.
One was about a hyperbaric chamber exploding in Florida. It killed an Italian woman, and her 4-year-old grandson was left in critical condition.
The story didn't say why they were in the chamber.
Now, I always assumed hyperbaric chambers were only used during scuba diving, for people that are in danger of getting the bends. But I'm not sure, and this is where a more complete story would've come in handy. I mean, didn't Michael Jackson have one of these machines? Or was that just an oxygen chamber? Either way, gives us details!
Another story was about a small airplane that had engine failure. The pilot survived by landing on a bunch of portable toilets. I'm guessing this story will get a few jokes from the late night shows on Monday (if I wasn't running late for racquetball, I'd try an attempt at one).
Right below that story in the Union-Tribune was a piece on a cage fighter in Reno that got a year in jail for punching a cop. As a kid, I always remember hearing people say that black belts in karate had hands that were "lethal weapons" and that hitting or kicking an officer would result in a stiffer penalty. The story made no mention of this.
And, a story that was on various TV shows and in a few papers, had to do with Miss California's Carrie Prejean. She's the one that claimed she lost the Miss USA pagaent because of how she answered a question on same sex marriage.
The best thing she could've done was moved on with her life. Especially when the answer she gave was idiotic to began with.
Well, now it's coming out that she had breast implants. And what makes that even weirder is that the Miss California Organization paid for them. If that right there, isn't enough to keep you from watching pagaents....
...and also to realize how idiotic Christians can be. Just the fact that someone that considers themselves "Christian" would be in a pagaent like that, seems odd. But to get breast implants -- I would think that Christians don't want you to make your body look more beautiful for reasons as superficial as that. I'm guessing to them, breasts are to feed babies; they aren't for the enjoyment of your boyfriend or spouse, or to fill out a dress or swimsuit.
And, it's the same reason I'm enjoying the fact that that idiot Mel Gibson is going thru a divorce.
