I heard on the radio, that at some high school a girl was "sexting" with her boyfriend. That's texting, but it includes naked photos.
The guy did what most teenage boys would do...showed all his buddies. The girl didn't kill herself like the one we heard about last week. But school authorities were planning to suspend some people. A lawyer than recommended they don't, as there would be no proof this happened during school hours.
And that got me thinking -- let's give the power back to the schools. Okay, you can't suspend over that. Well, pass a rule that cell phones are no longer allowed anywhere but in the students locker. That means in class, if the cell phone goes off. Or even if a teacher sees it on your person, it's confiscated, and not given back until the end of the school year.
I understand that a lot of parents want to be able to stay in contact with their kids, whether that's to arrange when they're being picked up or whatever. Well, that can be done when the kid has lunch, and goes to his/her locker. Or after school.
I'm sure there would still be lawsuits, but if schools don't start doing this, the cell phone thing is going to get out of hand.
