I hate to always take an event in the media and just blog about it. Partly because, we see it all being covered to death in other forms of media. Who cares about my rant about it, which is probably the same as the talking heads you see on CNN.
But, I wanted to comment on Rhianna and Chris Brown, finally. Only because of one aspect I keep hearing the last few days. And that is the prospect that Brown might say in court she hit him first.
And, I'm the first person to say....if a woman punches you or kicks you in the nads, you can lay her out with a right-cross. I'll be on your side. Hell, I was on Paul Newmans side when he punched the woman in The Verdict, that pretended to be his love, but just wanted to steal his notes on the upcoming court case to give to the other side.
But, the problem I'm having with this defense is...he obviously did more then just punch her in self defense. And, you can always get away without beating a woman up. When former El Cajon resident, turned model/actress, now reality show star -- Tawny Kittan, started beating her pro baseball player with her shoe, he did nothing physical. He pulled the car over, called 911, and she got arrested. And she didn't have a scratch on her.
Speaking of which, Brown didn't have a scratch on him, either. Had she punched him hard, he would've had a bruise, no?
And, it's the same logic I use with this guy in Jamal, that in the second court case, got away with unloading his gun into a car driven by two Mexicans. They were neighbors of his, but since his ranch had a few thefts (copper wire, mostly), he was determined to do something about it. So when he saw these guys on his property at 8 p.m., he jumped in front of them and unloaded. It killed one guy, injured the other. They weren't thieves. They were neighbors, and driving around looking for more property to buy.
What did this guy do? He fled to Las Vegas, and told the police later that he left because he figured they wouldn't buy his story.
And he doesn't have to do a single day in jail. Who knows why. You know how idiotic jurors are. They probably somehow, convinced themselves the shooting was justified.
From day one, I've always said you should be able to shoot burglars that enter your house. But when it comes to someone on your property, you just can't do it. You can call the police.
There have been too many stories about a guy at someones front door, pounding and pounding, because he is drunk and thinks it's his old girlfriends residence. The person inside shoots his gun, killing the distraught boyfriend, only to find that they were never in danger of being attacked.
It all reminds me of the idiot in Texas, that shot the two burglars next door. I have no problem with the resident shooting them, but a neighbor? Who was already on the phone with police and told not to go outside...
I would've loved for the cops to have shown up and shot him, for holding a gun at the scene of a crime.
That would've been a nice, full circle I could've lived with.
