Conspiracy Theories

I was reading the Sunday paper and saw a story about Buzz Aldrin. The 79-year-old walked on the moon 40 years ago, and was with the Boston Pops to narrate a performance called "The Planets".There was NASA footage shown, and songs included: It's Only a Paper Moon, Moon River, Blue Moon, and of course "Fly Me to the Moon."

I don't think there was a Moondance, Blue Moon of Kentucky, Moonlight Drive, or Dark Side of the Moon.

But with Buzz, there's a dark side to the handful of idiots in the world that always believe conspiracies. They often approach him at speaking engagements, yelling weird things at him. I think it was Neil Armstrong that actually punched someone in the face that brought up the conspiracy to him.

The problem I have with people that believe in conspiracies is...they never listen to common sense.

Even though JFK was killed by a lone gunman, I can almost understand them thinking that was a conspiracy. Because, you hear so much about it being one. You see movies that are fictional (thanks, Oliver Stone), and you hear so many supposed witnesses that claim to have heard a second gunshot....

But any other conspiracy you may believe in, you're naive.

9/11 wasn't something that our own government was involved in. It amazes me that Rosie O'Donnell kept going on about that, talking about how buildings would collapse if a plane hit them.

Aside from the fact that thousands of building and construction workers would come out and say that it's not possible, nobody can explain what would've happened had the terrorists not hijacked the planes. What would've happened to all those supposed bombs that were planted in the World Trade Center?

And, I use the same logic I used with my black friends that thought the cops had conspired to frame O.J.

First, why not shoot O.J. when he wouldn't get out of the Ford Bronco? Clearly they would've been justified. And, you would be able to silence someone that could ruin your "conspiracy." Second, why not get O.J. one of the previous times he beat his wife? And third, and most important -- how many cops would be needed to be involved to "trap" O.J.? Let's just say 30, minimum. So, what happens if you go up to one cop that says, "I don't want any part of this!" And that cop goes to the media. Or one of those officers that did participate, and was later fired. Or just happened to tell his wife, and they are now divorced. The wife goes to the media.

You see how hard it is for conspiracies to actually work? Because someone eventually talks.

Even the photo of the Lochness Monster. That 85-year-old guy was on his death bed, and admitted to faking that picture. And there was only two people involved in that.

I've found that people that believe in conspiracies, are the same people that are always suspicious about the police and government being out to "get us."

They also don't use logic in debates.

So, if we debate any "conspiracies" in this thread, please come prepared.
