A few celebrity stories caught my eye over the weekend.
One was John Travolta being involved in an extortion plot. Someone said they took photos of his dying son in the ambulance and that they'd sell them to the tabloids unless he paid millions of dollars. He promptly called the police who are investigating.
I always think extortion plots are so bizarre. The weirdest involved Louie Anderson. You can Google that if you care about the details.
The more interesting story was Miley Cyrus texting while in church, and getting in trouble for it.
I find it so odd that she got into more trouble because she was in church. None of her family seemed to have a problem with her being 15 when she started dating a 20-year-old.
I guess the numerous child stars that grow up to be drug addicts and all the other various problems they have, just doesn't register.
If your child becomes rich and famous, that's great. But can't you still put limits on their dating? And, how is it the authorities don't step in?
If it was a person that was not famous...and a 20-year-old was dating a 15-year-old, I'm sure they'd be all over it. Hell, that Dateline does shows to set up people like this! But I guess when you're famous, you can break laws.
Nobody ever investigated Woody Allen, for marrying his step-daughter. Now, I understand she was over 18 when they "officially" hooked up. But his ex, Mia Farrow, said nude photos of the girl when she was underage, where found with Allen. I'm not sure why that wasn't investigated.
Instead, Allen gets nominated for some Oscars for Vicky Christinia Barcelona.
And Roman Polanski gets to continue making movies with the biggest stars in Hollywood.
In the movie The Reader, they waited to film love scenes with Kate Winslets co-star, because he was under age. Some movies don't don't wait.
But you can't blame the movie studios. At the end of the day, you have to blame the parents.
