What do Michael Jackson, Obama, and Ghandi all have in common?

Since I collect music memorabilia, I can appreciate when I hear about things being auctioned off.

George Michaels paid a million bucks for the white piano John Lennon owned (and wrote "Imagine" on). I would've paid that if I had his kind of money. To own that piano, I'd consider meeting Michaels in a mens room!

Sometimes you hear about weird items, like Ghandi's glasses and sandals being auctioned last week. The auction house pointed out that he didn't have a lot of possessions, so these might be the only items of his to ever make it on the "market".

Often times, important people get nice items. I remember Padre owner John Moores getting a few baseballs signed by some world leader, I forget who.

President Obama got a size 23 shoe signed by Shaquille O'Neal the other day when he flew into Phoenix. I'm guessing someone with the middle name "Hussein", bringing a size 23 shoe that doesn't fit him onto a plane, wouldn't be so easy if it wasn't Air Force One he was climbing aboard (on a side note...Nike makes a shoe called Air Force One, that would've been a cooler thing for the center to sign).

One of the weirder items I heard about being auctioned, was in Russia. It was sketched by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, and purchased by a gallery in Moscow for $1.15 million. What I find weird about it, is that Putin spent 20 minutes on it, then had professional artists finish it up. Having other people work on it, to me, takes away from the piece (even if it does make it look nicer). I saw a sketch Obama did a few years back for a charity auction. It was a series of portraits of other senators. It wasn't great, but I'd be a lot more interested in that item since he drew it himself.

Michael Jackson, who's having financial problems, is auctioning off things. He has a basketball signed by another MIchael...Jordan. As well as capes (of course), an American Music Award he got for "Thriller", and a pair of socks that someone should snap up for that person that has everything. These are rhinestone-trimmed, because...well, since Liberace left the planet, nobody really wears rhinestone socks anymore.

There will be gold and platinum records, a Harley-Davidson (can you picture Michael Jackson on a hog? well, a real hog, maybe...)

If you have a lot of money, you can get his Rolls-Royce limo.

I'd think about placing a bid if he was auctioning off one of his noses. That would be a cool item to keep in the display case in the den. Right next to the Sammy Davis Jr. eyeball I own.
