Crazy Celebs -- The Christian Bale/Etta James edition

I was listening to Etta James rant on a few of the entertainment shows. Boy did she sound wacky. Or, whack, as the kids would say.

Why does she care so much that Beyonce sang her wonderful song "At Last" at the Presidents inaugeration?

Maybe she didn't care for Beyonces portrail of her in the film Cadillac Records (a good film, if you get the chance to rent it...but it's probably a better soundtrack than movie).

She was saying Obama wasn't "her President" and mentioned his big ears. She talked about wanting to kick Beyonces ass. It was like an episode of Jerry Springer.

If I was her, I'd cool the jets. She's just making herself sound crazy.

But, for sounding crazy, nothing beats the rant of Christian Bale. When I heard the audio of him yelling at the person that does the lights, I couldn't believe it. I have a feeling Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin were off somewhere high-fiving each other (Baldwin with his rant to his daughter, calling her a "pig", and Cruise yelling at Kidman right before their divorce).

The problem with Bales rant is, the lighting guy really doesn't stand a chance. When the star of a film is yelling, what can a person in charge of lights do? He can stand there and listen to the prima donna go off. If he tells the guy he sounds like an insane nutjob, who do you think they'll fire? Heck, Bale even talked about wanting the guy fired. And the guy apologized! That's what blows me away. Once a person apologizes, it's hard to stay mad. Isn't it?

At that point, Bale couldn't said "This is our 10th take on this scene, so we really got to make sure we don't have any distractions." Or he could say, "It's going to cost the studio time and money if we have people walk into the scene they're not supposed to be in."

My friend Alice is in love with Clint Eastwood. I bought her a life-sized Eastwood cardboard thingy once, back from his spaghetti western days.

She was lucky enough to be around the set when he was filming a movie 7 years ago. She said that she kept leaning in to get a better view, and her head was in one shot. He had to yell "cut!" and then he pointed to her, and he gave a hand gesture letting her know that she had to back-up. She felt so bad. But Eastwood never yelled.

I once talked to a guy that was, I believe, an assistant director or something, on that movie where Reese Witherspoon goes back home (somewhere in the south), and falls back in love with her high school sweetheart. He told me that she wanted La Salsa for lunch, and the gopher on the set went out looking for it. He couldn't find a La Salsa, so he brought her Mexican food from somewhere else. She yelled at him for 20 minutes, and than demanded that he be fired (he wasn't).

That audio or video never made it out anywhere. But, it makes you realize just how insane these celebrities get.
