A friend of mine emailed me a story about a woman in Boston that called 911. If I tell you that a car theft was involved, that wouldn’t sound so strange. But it was the video game “Grand Theft Auto” that she called about.
You see, her 14-year-old son refused to stop playing the game and go to sleep.
The call came in at 2:30 a.m.
Oh, and to make the situation seem even worse than it was, the infuriated mom said that the teenager also walked around the house turning on all the lights.
Now, I had relatives that would freak out if you left one room and didn’t turn out the light, even after I called SDG&E as a teenager to find out just how much electricity that wasted. They said it was about two cents an hour, and that some people think it wastes more electricity turning a light on and off if you are going back into the room a few minutes later. But I digress.
Our tax dollars went to having two officers respond to the house. And what did they do? Draw guns? Pepper spray the little brat? Nah. They persuaded him to obey his mom. I’m not sure why the woman isn’t being charged, since 911 is reserved for emergencies.
I’m also guessing the woman is a horrible parent, and this incident won’t get her to discipline the child (perhaps, taking away his video games for a month).
Another story that got a good chuckle from me, involved another idiotic cop and idiotic 911 call.
He’s in Washington, D.C. And, with the snowstorm that hit them and closed the airport, a huge snowball fight took place on a corner of town.
To me, that would be a good thing; hearing about people in D.C. fighting and using snowballs, not weapons.
An off-duty cop was driving by in his Hummer. And I gotta admit, if I had a snowball in my hand and someone in a Hummer drove by, they’d probably get it on the windshield, too.
This cop handled it a bit unprofessionally. He got out of his vehicle and started waving a gun around. He failed to tell anyone he was a cop, so 911 calls came in.
There’s a Youtube video of it that’s funny. One person hits him in the face with a snowball as he’s on a Walkie Talkie. He’s lucky he wasn’t shot.
We’ll see if the cop gets fired. And if he does, will Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton say the officer got fired because he was African-American and pointing his gun at an angry mob holding dangerous “white snowballs.”
