People wonder why I don’t have sympathy for people that die in weird ways. And I always tell them…I have lots of sympathy for their family. It’s just hard to feel sad for someone that was an idiot.
Every year you hear about someone picking mushrooms and eating them. And then dying. Has the memo not gotten around to all the mushroom eaters yet? There are lots of poisonous mushrooms out there. And some of them look like the edible ones! If it ain’t in the vegetable section of Ralph’s, don’t bother picking and eating them.
A woman in Lodi died after eating some in mid-November. Her husband also had some of the delicious, but deadly, Death Cap ‘shrooms. He made it out of the hospital (and I bet he hasn’t shut up about his wife and her cooking!)
A cousin of theirs is doing well. Of course, this after being given a new liver! (shouldn’t you be at the end of the liver transplant list, if you got there from idiotic family members?)
Now, I have lots of sympathy for the guy that was in a coma for 23 years. Or so doctors thought.
This man in Brussels, Rom Houben, said he laid trapped and paralyzed, aware of everything going on around him. He just wasn’t able to tell anyone.
He was in a car wreck and apparently, a brain scan device that wasn’t available in the 80s, showed that he had lots of brain activity.
He is talking about the frustration and powerlessness of it all. He mentioned the time they informed him his father had passed away, but couldn’t show emotion.
Of course, he’s in the process of writing a book now.
And I’m sure a lawsuit against the hospital is in the works.
