Bodies in Trunks and Many White Horses

Silly me...I thought the trunk of a car was for the spare tire and jack. And the occasional suitcase when you're off to the airport. But in the paper lately, I'm reading about the amount of bodies in trunks.

I used to always think that was just something you see in the movies. In the great "Jackie Brown", Samuel Jackson shoots Chris Tucker after stuffing him in a trunk (I always want to shoot him when I hear his annoying voice coming from the screen).

In the wonderful "Out of Sight", Jennifer Lopez gets stuffed in a trunk, and shoots at George Clooney and Ving Rhames from inside of it.

In "Goodfellas", which I think is better than the Godfather, Joe Pesci needs to borrow a steak knife from his mom, to finish off the guy he stuffed in his trunk.

In the paper, it's always less interesting than that. It's either an illegal alien, or a spouse that someone killed. More recently, it's babies.

In a less popular news story, a woman in Montana had her car towed. In the wrecking yard, they discovered she had her 2-year-old son in the trunk. The mom told the police the death was accidental and she placed the body in the car's trunk a few months prior.

Before her car got towed, she drove through a number of stoplights evading police, and finally crashed. She had an 11-year-old daughter in the back seat.

For some reason, police didn't search the trunk. This seems odd. When I watch Cops, they often search the cars, if a person is acting suspicious. I would think fleeing the police, would put a person in this category.

I'm not sure why the woman didn't do what other murdering parents usually do. REMOVE the body from the trunk after taking it somewhere.

Another weird aspect of this story was that her name is "Many White Horses." I don't think she's an Indian. Her son was named James.

But, I've blogged so many times about ridiculous names. Another complaint I have with them, is it makes reading a news story much more difficult. I'm reading that....Many White Horses was released. And, I get confused. First I think it should say "Many white horses ARE being released." Then I realize, it must be a name, since the words are capitalized.

I go back earlier in the story, and see her full name is "Summer Many White Horses," and realize when I first saw that name, I thought it say "Summer Mary", which sounds more like a name.

Comedian Jim Gaffigan does a great routine in which he says that if a story in the paper says "cotinued on page 13" he says "Not for me. I'm done with it."

I'll usually go to page 13 to finish the story, but I figure I'll read the other stories on the page I'm at first. And, by the time I get to page 13, it takes me a few paragraphs to remember what it is I read earlier.

And a name like "Summer Many White Horses," just becomes even more confusing.
