So, there's a story in the AP about a couple in Fayetteville, Arkansas, that is suing McDonald's.
Do you think they spilled hot coffee on their lap? Good guess, but no. It did have something to do with their laps, though.
A couple had nude photos on their cell phone, which they left in a McDonald's. The employees promised to secure it until he returned.
The guy said the photos of him and his wife appeared online, and he's suing the franchise owner and store manager, for $3 million. He claims to have suffered embarrassment and the cost of having to move to a new home because of the ordeal.
It's strange, because as I waited for the Chargers game to start tonight, I was going thru the channels. Chula Vista resident Mario Lopez had celebrity mothers on some entertainment show, and they took questions from fans. One person asked Brandy's mother, who is also the mom of singer Ray J, what she thought about the sex video her son did with Kim Kardasian.
Of course, you then start thinking about all the celebrity sex videos. Okay, well, I did. There was Paris Hilton. Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.
I remember being at a radio station when Queen guitarist Brian May was interviewed. He talked about their drummer having a video stolen from his house, that showed his wife doing sexual things with a popsicle (in England, she had done a commercial for that brand of ice cream). It was easier for them, since the video was stolen by people doing construction on their mansion.
But I think cases like this, a judge should say "You were stupid enough to take nude photos of yourself. And on your cell phone, which could easily be lost or stolen. If some employee making minimum wage finds it and does something embarrassing to you, well...I guess you learned something the hard way."
But, the way our goofy legal system is, this guy will probably come away with some big settlement from McDonald's.
