This is going to sound like something stupid to complain about, but what the hell.
I was going thru the channels today and one of those shows like Inside Edition, was showing military fathers that were surprising their kids.
They'd hide in a huge box with a ribbon on it. And, this all seemed so wrong to me.
First of all, this has been done to death. The first time we saw a clip of it, it was cute. The child was so excited to see their father.
But now, it's happening more and more. And it's always at schools. Why?
What if there's a child that had a father die in war? What if there's a child whose parents are recently going thru a divorce? And, seeing another child, happy with his father, makes them upset?
Now, I'm not one of those people that thinks we need to look at each little thing we do, because one person might be offended. But, it's the fact that at school the kids are there to learn how to read and write, and all that jazz. Not have suprises from a father hiding in a box (and they're always in camoflauge, which makes me wonder, why they need to "hide" in a box...why not just kneel down by the bushes?)
What about the kid whose parents spout off about Bush and the soldiers being a bunch of murderers? Is that kid now worried that this man in his fatigues is going to start gunning everyone down?
Okay, well...that one was a stretch.
But everyone is so hardcore about how teachers can't talk about anything religious in the classroom. And I agree with that.
But some teachers have gotten into trouble merely for answering a childs question about religion.
If we are going to be so strict about that and other things, let's put an end to the soldiers coming out of boxes.
I guess it's better than soldiers coming home in boxes.
