The amount of people you see in one day that have no clue, is astounding.
It started at LA Fitness. Unless I'm there at 5 to 6 p.m., I can't find any racquetball games.
It was early in the day, and there was a guy hitting a racquetball by himself. Now, one time I saw a guy hitting the ball by himself, I asked him if he wanted to play. He did. The problem was, as I walk into the court, I realize he's mentally challenged. I didn't want to be rude, so I played a few games with him. I think he only hit the ball twice.
So the other day, I see a guy hitting a racquetball by himself. I tap the glass a few times with my knuckles, and he looks over. I say "Do you want to play a game?" He says "What?" And I repeat myself. He then walks over and opens the door, to ask what I said.
I ask him if he wants to play a game. He says he can't, because he's leaving in a few minutes and was just hitting the ball after lifting weights.
I wondered how it was he couldn't tell what I was saying. You don't have to be a lip reader. If you are on a court, usually what's asked of you, is if you want to play a game.
I finally get a few games of basketball in, swim a few laps, and leave.
I'm on the I-15, and there's some crazy accident. A car is on its roof. Fire trucks go by me. There's an ambulance.
I'm in the 2nd to the far left lane. These are the two lanes everyone is going to have to be in to get by. Yet, I notice nobody up in front of me, is letting the line of cars in. When it comes my turn, I let a guy in, only 50 feet from the broken glass and fluids all over the road.
I have no clue why other drivers wouldn't let these people in. It's wall to wall traffic. And, it's an accident scene. It's not like one of those drivers that didn't want to wait in a line, then sped up to the front of it and wanted to cut in.
I then meet my girlfriend at a restaurant. After we are seated, we don't see a waiter or waitress. After 15 minutes we go to the hostess, and ask her. She sends a waitress over. She takes our drink orders. She brings them. Then, we got 20 minutes without seeing her again. We go back to the hostess, asking if we can have our order taken. A different waitress comes over and takes our order.
Our food arrived, and my girlfriend got the wrong kind of cheese on her sandwich. My tacos came without salsa. I went and looked for the waitress. I found her, and asked if I could get salsa. She said, "Oh, those tacos don't come with salsa. But I can bring you some." I said that would be great, and as I walked back to the seat I grabbed a menu. Not only did they come with salsa, but two different kinds!
When she brought it, I told her it says that it comes with salsa on the menu. I didn't say it to be a jerk. I just wanted her to know for future customers.
The bill never came. After 15 minutes, I had to search for someone.
The place was not busy, either.
I see they overcharged me a few bucks on the tacos. I ask about that and she says, "Oh, the steak ones are more expensive." Knowing I'm going to sound like my old Jewish grandmother who I constantly made fun of, I still say "It doesn't say that on the menu." She looks at the menu and says, "You're right. I should've said something, though. I'll take the $2 off."
I didn't leave a tip.
When I left, I went to go put $70 into my gas tank. And, I DON'T OWN AN SUV. The guy in front of me at 7-11, is asking the female clerk all about her husband, who just got back from Iraq. Now, part of me likes the interaction. We need a society that is friendly to each other. But, I want to put gas in my car and go. And, there is a guy behind me that wants to buy his Big Gulp and go. And, a guy behind him with a 6-pack. Maybe we don't want to stand there for 10 minutes while you ask her questions about whether or not her husband was injured, and how much longer he's going to be in the Marines.
I didn't sigh or say anything, because like I said, the guy was being friendly (It had nothing to do with the fact that he was 6'3" with no neck).
But, I just wish more people in this world would think about others. If there's a line, think about what you can do to get your transaction moving faster.
If you work in a restaurant and it's not your first week, learn how to do your job.
If you're on the freeways, be considerate of others.
Instead, they'll probably just pass a law that if a car lands on it's roof, you are required to let drivers merge or you'll get a ticket.
