I have no problem with guns. I have no problem with the NRA. I do have a problem with people that own guns, and their kids get to them, and shoot up a school. Or a neighbor. Or themselves. The parents should be held responsible for what their kids do with their guns. Maybe there already is a law on the book like that, but I don't think so.
I remember after 9/11, when there was talk of giving the pilots guns, a lot of people were worried about that. They thought that that's just adding a gun onboard, that a hijacker could take. I immediately thought....it's a gun that a crazy pilot could use. After all, there was a pilot, I believe from Egypt, that was upset with his marriage ending, so he took an entire plane down as he committed suicide.
Well, there haven't been any problems with guns in the cockpit, until now. One pilot accidentally discharged his weapon, putting a hole in the wall. Apparently, none of the passengers even knew, either.
That's another problem with a gun going off in a plane. If it goes thru a window, you lose cabin pressure, and the plane will go down. I believe they covered this in a James Bond movie.
The weirder gun story is the cop in Oceanside. A woman cut him off, and some words were exchanged. As she parked in a parking lot (he was off duty, with his wife)...he pulled up next to her, and unloaded into her vehicle. Of the five shots that hit her car, one hit her 8-year-old sons leg. Another hit her shoulder.
Now, a few things. First, this cop should do some serious jail time. Second, why is this woman suing the police? The officer wasn't working. He was just a regular citizen (who, was carrying a gun that he's licensed to carry).
I'm not sure why this woman (who has a history of DUI and other things), is going to get millions (oh yeah, she'll win millions, I guarantee it). It should be a lawsuit against him as an individual.
Even if she was wrong and cut the guy off, it doesn't warrant getting shot.
Believe me, with the amount of bad drivers I see daily, it's good I don't have a gun in my car.
