I heard a sports show talking about this the other day. And, I remembered reading the story in the sports section of the Union-Tribune a week earlier.
Serena and Venus Williams, the best women tennis players of the last 8 years, have a father that is nuts. I think everyone is pretty much in agreement there.
Aside from the things he did to teach them tennis (like hitting balls at them really fast, when they were just 4 and 5)...he would stand up in the crowd, and make a scene.
Well, the other day, he said his girls were never really accepted into tennis, because of their color. He said something like: Tracy Austin and Chris Evertt, those are white trash losers, but everyone loved them.
I'd love to sit him down, and explain to him how racist he is. And how stupid. First, his girls make the most of any of the female tennis players in endorsements.
Second, the reason so many people dislike them, is because of him. He'd yell things from the crowd, and act disruptive. Tennis is considered a "classier" sport. Not like basketball, or boxing, where trash talking is a bit more involved.
Third, his daughters always had excuses when they lost. Instead of being gracious, or giving credit to the woman that beat them, they would rant about having a knee injury, and not being 100%. That makes it harder to warm up to them.
Yet, he wants to pull the race card. And, I've found, that's a favorite thing for blacks to do. Pull the race card.
Had OJ been found guilty, it would've been because he was black, not because he murdered two people.
I've talked to so many African-Americans about race and race relations, and I'm convinced, they are the most racist people on the planet. The percentage of African-Americans that are racist, is so high, I have no reason to believe otherwise.
There had been times I'd play basketball, and I score a few points over someone, and they are trash talking. Okay, no problem. But then, they start with the "stupid white boy" or whatever. Now, one time, I had had enough of it. SO, I asked the guy if I could call him a "stupid [insert n-word here]. He threw me to the floor, and we were ready to fight. His homies held him back.
He said I called him a "stupid [n word]". I explained, "No, I just asked if I could." Nobody on the court saw my logic in that one.
I've argued with my black friends, when they insist the cops that pull them over are jerks, doing it because of their skin color. Well, I explained to them, I've never, ever had a cop act nice to me, when they pulled me over. I've had Latino cops, white cops, and black cops, pull me over (and I'm a good driver). Every one of them, acts like a jerk.
Yet, it's African-Americans, that immediately think it's their skin color. Instead of just thinking....wow, cops have this attitude. And, trying to figure out why they might have the attitude, maybe, it was because I was driving 90 mph.
My friends dad was the head of the Harbor Police. He told me a funny story once about his first day as a cop. Some of his coworkers followed him, and hit the back of his car with theirs.
It caused his head to hit the notepad that was attached to his windshield.
A few minutes later, he sees African-Americans carrying TVs and stereos out of a house. He figures it's being burglarized.
He goes over, asks them what they are doing, they say they are moving. One guy shows ID, that he lives there, and everything is fine. He nicely chats with them for a few minutes. He's glad they aren't mad at him for asking, because, that's a cops job. You see something suspicious, and you ask about it, or investigate. But, they were looking at him weird. He figured he deserved that much.
Well, he gets back into his patrol car. And, he sees his face is covered with blood, from where his forehead hit the notepad.
Now, that story had nothing to do with race, I just thought it was funny and wanted to share it.
I'm not saying black people don't have some things worse than whites; still, in this day and age. But, I think it's high time they stop complaining or trying to make everything about race. Often times, it's not.
