I'm still an Obama supporter. But, I think he failed miserably in his 30 minute speech talking about the Reverand Jeremiah Wright (note to Weird Al Yankovic: do a parody of Three Dog Nights "Joy to the World": Jeremiah was a pastor/Was a good friend of mine/I never understood a single word he said/I just drank the churches wine)
Anyway, it was an eloquent speech on race. Good stuff. But ya know what? It never addressed the issue.
I think Obama should've just said, at some point, "I heard him say things like that a few times over the years, but it was always after some event like the Rodney King trial...so I just thought he was ranting and letting off steam. I didn't know he really felt that way about our country."
I think Obama should've also said, "I'm embarrassed as a black man, because, we have always lectured whites on what they can and can't say. And now, I have African-Americans saying things that aren't appropriate."
Saying that, would've done wonders for him. People are willing to forgive, but you have to say the right things.
I do give Hillary credit. She was smart enough (for once during this campaign), to not comment on it all.
