Okay, maybe the title is a bit misleading. Heather Mills could hardly be called that. In fact, I'm not so sure why everyone is up in arms about her getting $50 million. It's actually a lot less than she could've gotten.
And, men that complain about rich guys that pay women in divorces, don't understand the system. In fact, Sir Paul was advised by his people, and his kids, to sign a prenuptial agreement. He decided against it.
Had Mills not represented herself, she would've gotten a lot more.
Barry Bonds, I remember reading once, had to pay a woman $17,000 a month for child support. And of course, my male friends were upset, saying the child didn't need that much to live on. But...if the government has a system to take a certain percent (25% or whatever), of his salary, oh well. A plumber might have to pay $280 a month. A baseball player making millions, pays a lot more.
The woman I have bigger problems with, is the one involved in the Eliot Spitzer story (does anyone else laugh like Beavis & Butthead when they hear the name "Spit-sir"?)
This woman is now getting all this publicity. Her song is being purchased, and she's offered a record and book deal. I have no problem with all that.
What I do have a problem with, is if she gets off scott free. Last I heard, prostitution is illegal. So, will she be charged?
From what I understand, people that do illegal activities, don't report them to the IRS to pay taxes. So, there's a tax evasion charge somewhere in there. Or, do we only go after actors and musicians in this country?
They should do what they did to Heidi Fleiss. Throw the book at her. And, when she gets out of jail and pays her debt to society...if she wants to make a million dollars from a company that is willing to pay her to sing, dance, write her memoirs, or whatever...that's fine.
As long as it's legal.
