Lawyers in Love (with money)

A couple lawsuits in the news.

I just saw in an entertainment magazine, that the driving instructor in the Barot movie, is suing. He has no way in hell of winning this one. But, I'll give him credit. He's only asking for $400,000, not $4 million. That helps his case.

I know nothing of the case, but I do know, that the Barot dude is pretty business savvy. And, I guarantee, ANYONE that appeared in that movie, signed a few contracts, with lots of small print, saying that they could use the footage ANY WAY they see fit, in a motion-picture. If those college kids couldn't win when they sued, for looking like drunk racists (which damages character), surely a driving instructor (who actually came off as a nice and patient man), doesn't have a chance.

Now, on another lawsuit, I hear talk radio talking about these firefighters that won over a million dollars in a reverse discrimination case. This all stems from a black firefighter, having dog food put in his spaghetti, and suing, claiming they did this because he was black. He won some money, which is garbage. Those firefighters did pranks to everyone. You just happened to have, yet another African-American, that wants to play the race card when it benefits him/her.

Apparently, two white firefighters were suspended for 60 days. Now, all the talk radio shows are saying those guys are just taking tax payer money, and that's not right. Well, I agree with those two guys. Being suspended, they lost money. They were made to look like scapegoats. And...they can be perceived as racist.

Sure, it would be great if everyone stopping suing everyone. Or, if you got a settlement that made more sense (how about their 60 days of lost pay, and then $75,000 each?)

But, it's going to continue.

My stepdad likes to point to a statistic that said there were actually more lawsuits in the late 1800s and early 1900s, then there are today. That may be.

But, they weren't suing because a woman came into the mens bathroom at Qualcomm Stadium.
