The WNBA is actually pretty pathetic. It's a level of basketball that is unenjoyable to watch.
Women often miss lay-ups and easy shots. A woman might dunk the ball every five years.
I played a game against some WNBA players once, and was actually able to hang. And that was when I was 75 pounds heavier than I am now and hadn't played basketball in a few years.
The other day in a WNBA game, the women had a huge brawl. I'm not sure exactly how it started, but one of their newest stars, Candice Parker, got into it with another player.
Lisa Leslie, who is a league MVP and one of the classiest women in the organization, ran over to the fight (she says to help break it up). An assistant coach name Rick Mahorn threw her to the floor.
Now, I've always hated Rick Mahorn. As a Lakers fan, Mahorn played for the Detroit Pistons, the rivals. And...the Pistons were known as the 'Bad Boys'. They played dirty. So, it's no surprise that as a coach, Mahorn is throwing women to the floor.
He says he was trying to keep Leslie from getting involved in the fight. And, his fellow 'Bad Boy' -- head coach Bill Laimber says it's crazy that Mahorn was even suspended at all. When, most sports shows think it's crazy that Mahorn wasn't throw out of the league or heavily fined.
I love Mahorns defense. The 6'11", 300 pounder, said "I have four daughters. I've never laid my hands on them, and I don't hit women." I believe Ike Turner said something similar.
I actually don't think Mahorn wanted to hurt Leslie. But that's not the point. When you are that tall and big, you have to realize when you push people around, they can get hurt.
And, Mahorn was, as a broadcaster, involved in the Pistons-Pacers brawl, which was the biggest in NBA history. So, he has a history of being around fights, and not just being a "peace maker."
In other men knocking women around news....who knows what to make about Bale being out on bail.
The Dark Knight star was accused to beating up his sister and mom. A charge that is probably not true, if police let him go. The weirdest part of that, was police waiting until after the Batman premiere to question him. Because, after all, you don't want arrests to interfere with your work.
I remember as a kid when Poltergeist came out, and a few of the cast members ended up dying, and they said there was a curse with that movie.
I wonder if another cast member of Batman gets into trouble, they'll say the same thing. After all, Heath Ledger died. Christian Bale has been accused of this. And, it's only a matter of time before Gary Oldman does something. I mean, come on. It's Gary Oldman.
