Again, the title has little to do with this blog. It was the name of a crappy Ringo Starr album I had as a kid.
At Black's Beach in La Jolla last Friday night, it was a full-moon. You know what that means...the crazies were out. The crazy drummers, that have a drum circle every full moon there.
The beach, more well known for the nudists that frequent it, had a few hundred show up. It ended with a man being stabbed in a brawl around 2:30 a.m.
This means the drum circles may be coming to an end.
They started in the mid-90s. A group met there to celebrate life, pray for peace, and sing songs about the "heart". I don't think stabbing someone in the heart was part of the plan.
The drum circles had something in common with the peace and love vibe of Woodstock. Aside from music and messages of love, people urinated, defecated, left trash everywhere, had illegal fires, and drug paraphernalia was all around.
I want to know if a law is going to now be passed that any kind of drum will be prohibited from the beach. After all, we seem to draw up laws when a few people do something wrong.
We can't have alcohol on the beach. We can't talk on our cell phones while we drive. So, let's ban drums from the beach. And while we're at it...let's ban frisbee's. I'm sure someone has been hit in the head by a stray frisbee. If they are banned from the beach, that will keep that from ever happening again.
