The paper reported a story about a guy with his 5-year-old daughter in a McDonald's off of Aero Drive. A few teenagers came in, cursing up a storm. He told a manager, who asked the kids to be quiet. They continued cursing, talking about their "freedom of speech." When the guy got up to leave, he was stabbed in the back.
The kids, 14 and 17, were arrested.
At the movie theatre in Mira Mesa, someone confronted a few talkers during the film, and they waited in the parking lot with pipes, and beat the him to death.
It makes you wonder if you should say anything to losers that have no respect for anyone else. Well, I say, you still have to.
I've had a few friends, that told people at Padre games, to watch their language (when they had their kids present). The people apologized, and didn't curse again.
I've been in movies, and told people to quiet down. And they usually do.
When I was in high school, and worked at McDonald's for years...we had a guy that looked homeless at one of the tables. Some customers complained about him. When he was asked to leave, he pulled out a gun.
Our employee ran back screaming, and the police were called.
Yes, there are nuts in the world. Remember the guy at Extraordinary Desserts last year?
But it doesn't mean we can't confront anyone, just for fear of something like this. It doesn't mean we can't honk our horn, because we fear the other driver might have a gun.
Idiots need to be told they are being idiots. If you're worried about being shot, just try to correct them in the most polite way possible. But please, let's not become a society of people that are just to afraid to confront anyone.
