Being a Democrat can be tough sometimes. My Republican friends want to argue stuff with me. And, my Democrat friends are way to liberal for my tastes.
When I talk about crime, and how I love the three strikes law, and things like that...the arguments we have are endless.
I have a friend I play racquetball with twice a week. His best friend had a mother murdered by a guy who knocked on her door asking if he could do yard work. She hired him, and at some point, he killed her, stole some jewelry and her car, and was later caught. She was interviewed on 60 Minutes about the case, because he had done jail time before, for attempted murder. He had tried to strangle someone, but didn't "succeed", so it wasn't as harsh a sentence as murder. When he got out, he did succeed, and strangled my friends mother.
Now, we see how sometimes, you have to get strict. This former cop, Peterson, has a wife missing. One of his previous wives, it was now determined, was murdered. Had he been jailed the first time, the second woman that disappeared (according to most opinions), would still be alive.
But instead, the hardcore liberal friends of mine, want there to be a mountain of evidence, before we convict anybody. Enough already. His wife died in a bathtub. Unless your Jim Morrison, that just doesn't happen. There was no sign of break-in at her house...they were going thru a divorce...to me, that's enough. Throw him in jail. Sure, go thru the motions of a trial if you must, but we all know how that will turn out. A few of the jurors will be idiots, and not understand what "reasonable doubt" means. They'll interpret that to mean that there has to be video of him dunking her head underwater, and we'll waste tax dollars on the case, and another murderer will get away with it.
