The other day I blogged, and briefly talked about how I handled telemarketers.
Well, during the recent elections, I'd often get calls from politicians. I'd come home, and my machine would tell me I had four messages. I'd feel popular, until I listened, and heard two of them were from candidates wanting me to vote for them.
Actress Scarlett Johanssen had left a message about why I should vote for Obama. The best part was I saved the message. I had two friends over the next day, and it hit me. I said to them, "Hey, I have a message on my answering machine from Scarlett Johanssen." They both sounded like 4-year-olds as they said "na ah." (i'm not even sure how to spell that)
Of course, I bet lunch with one of them before playing the message.
The next day, I got the same message from her. And, stories started to appear about how Congress put some final touches on a few bills that make a permanent program to protect us from unwanted phone calls from telemarketers.
The "Do Not Call Registry," started in 2003, and over 150 million people slapped their names on those lists.
But what nobody has told me yet is this. Does that list also apply to politicians during election time? I sure hope it does (well, unless Charlize Theron wants to leave a message telling me who to endorse).
