There was so much written and done about the shark attack, I didn't think I was gonna tackle it for a blog.
But then, so many things popped into my mind.
When I heard a newscaster say "The deadly shark attack that killed a man." ...I wondered if the word "deadly" was needed, since they said it "killed a man."
I also saw a family friend of the victim, ask that reporters give the family time to grieve, and some privacy. And, it hit me. Every time some horrible event happens, reporters go up to the door and ask the victims for statements. To me, this is worse than the paparazzi following Britney Spears everywhere.
I mean, what statement or light can they shed on the situation? They are going to be crying and upset. They aren't going to be able to tell you about shark behavior or anything else. It's just news crews, wanting that sound bite (no pun intended), or that bit of footage that shows someone mourning.
I read a story in a tiny paper in Fallbrook, about the shark signs that have been posted in the area being stolen. I thought about how when I saw all the Beatles landmarks in Liverpool, they mentioned how they stopped putting street signs up for "Penny Lane" since thousands had been stolen. I can understand that. But...a shark sign, warning people of danger?
I heard that Great Whites are endangered, so it's against the law to kill them. Well...the victim in this shark attack was a vet. He helped so many animals that would've died.
I think it's only fair, that in his honor, we go and make that damn shark extinct. Give the Asians a lot of nice shark fin soup, or Viagra pills, or whatever they do with the sharks they like to catch and dice up. I mean, is it really such a bad thing of those fish with teeth disappeared off the planet?
