There were a few car related items I was thinking about.
First, when I heard that the Aston-Martin used in the latest James Bond movie ended up in water, I figured it was a stunt gone wrong. Maybe they pressed the button that was supposed to make it fly over the river. Maybe Daniel Craig was driving by the bad guy and the car spun out, and ended up in the water. It certainly wasn't like that one Roger Moore film with the car, that looked like a Delorean, and turned into a submarine.
Nope. Turns out they were bringing the car to the set, and someone accidentally drove it into the drink.
Then I heard Sandra Bullock, and her husband Jesse James (have you seen this cat? covered in tattoos, works on cars for some reality show, had three kids before marrying Sandra) -- they were hit by a drunk driver. Both are okay. The woman, had a level more than twice the legal limit.
And, for some reason, this all got me thinking about a story in the L.A. Times a few weeks ago. It said that cellphone laws won't make the roads safer.
I had been saying this from day one.
Studies were done, that showed that it isn't a hand on the cellphone that makes the driver do bad things. It was the "cognitive capture"...being blind to driving cues because one is absorbed in conversation.
The study said that hands-free phones aren't any safer.
Now, on his radio show, Adam Carolla has been telling people for years, to turn against red arrows. He hates those on lights.
I'm going to continue on this quest. Because, I said when they were first talking about passing this law...that when you talk to a passenger in your car, it's the same thing. When you eat fast food, that's more of a danger. Or when you mess with your car stereo.
And now I hear, they are going to pass a law that you can't have a pet on your lap while you drive, which they've determined is more dangerous than a cell phone.
None of these laws are necessary. Just pass one law, that makes the fine a lot more expensive, if you are "reckless driving," and the officer can decide if what you were doing was a danger to other drivers.
Because, idiots can't talk on a phone and drive at the same time. But most of us can. And, we shouldn't be punished because of the idiots.
